Unified Technical Guidelines for Industrial Park Sewage Treatment Have Been Introduced

Published:

On July 9th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the "Technical Guidelines for Formulating Water Pollutant Emission Standards for Industrial Park Sewage Treatment Facilities" (HJ 945.4—2026), which will come into effect on September 1st, 2026. The guidelines classify industrial parks into single-industry type and comprehensive type (divided into similar, dominant, and differentiated categories), and have added comprehensive toxicity, salt content, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), and other characteristic pollutants to the control indicators. In the past, the sewage of industrial parks has long used the standards of urban sewage treatment plants, with the lack of control over characteristic pollutants. This guideline provides a unified basis for local industrial parks to set emission limits, and the demand for upgrading and transforming the sewage of chemical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor parks will be concentratedly released.
