Incorporation of unconventional water sources into the unified allocation of water resources

On July 23rd, the Ministry of Water Resources held a ministerial meeting to clarify that: very unconventional water sources such as reclaimed water, collected rainwater, mine water, and salt water will be included in the unified allocation of the entire water resources. According to local conditions, the development scale will be expanded, and the trading mechanism for water rights of unconventional water use will also be explored simultaneously. The sources of unconventional water have transformed from supplementary water sources to conventional water supply channels. The markets for technologies such as treatment of reclaimed water, purification of mine water, and desalination of salt water have continued to expand.
