TUZ GÖLÜ NATURAL GAS STORAGE EXPANSION PROJECT PHASE 3

Project Description: The third-phase expansion project of the Tuz Lake Natural Gas Storage Facility is a national-level energy infrastructure of Turkey. It is located in the underground salt cavern area of Tuz Lake in Akçaalar Province. It is led by the owner BOTAŞ and constructed by the EPC consortium of China International Engineering Corporation + IC İçtaş, with financing from the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Project Significance

International Relations: This project serves as a benchmark project for the alignment of China-Turkey's "Belt and Road Initiative" and the "Middle Corridor". Through Chinese enterprises' high-quality performance, it has earned the deep trust of the Turkish National Oil and Gas Company (BOTAŞ). This not only solidified the "ballast stone" of strategic mutual trust between the two countries through solid energy infrastructure cooperation, but also created a win-win cooperation model through the joint construction by Chinese enterprises and local forces such as the Turkish IC Construction Company. It has injected practical and strong energy momentum into the deepening of bilateral relations on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Turkey in 2026.

Enterprise Value: Securing the benchmark of the European - Central Asia energy corridor, consolidating overseas oil and gas storage and transportation cooperation with central state-owned enterprises such as China International Engineering Corporation, and establishing an advantage in highly reliable prefabricated electrical systems, significantly enhanced the brand barrier and project level of the company in the global energy infrastructure market.
